Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why have you named your company Runestone Engineering, LLC?

A Rune Stone or Runestone is a block of stone raised to commemorate great fallen heros of Viking culture. They were also put in place for men and women of great deeds. The stones often had ornamentation and were highly colored when first created. In that I’m at least 50% Norwegian, I thought it was appropriate to pay homage to my past culture. I like the thought of a stone being robust, steady, and ever-lasting. I want to think of my business in that way.

  • Why have you chosen the Valknut (pronounce as valk-noot) as your logo?

Though the exact meaning of this Norse symbol has been largely lost to time, it is generally believed to mean the knot of those who have fallen in battle on their way to Valhalla. I like the strength of the symbolism with this. Also, let’s face it, it’s just a cool symbol.

  • What’s with purple?

More than anything else, it’s just a color I really like and always have. There isn’t much to say about that I might have spent weeks researching colors and came up with reasons why I chose it. BUT…Purple has often been associated with royalty, nobility, and luxury according to some online sources.
